The senate has confirmed Ibrahim Tanko as Chief Justice of Nigeria. Tanko was confirmed on Wednesday during plenary, after he was screened by senators.
The upper chamber had earlier gone into a closed-door session in the process of his confirmation.
Abdullahi Abubakar, the senate leader, moved a motion for Tanko’s confirmation from his acting capacity.
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, had on Tuesday, asked that copies of Muhammad’s curriculum vitae be shared to the senators.
Muhammad had been acting in interim capacity since January, after the then CJN, Walter Onnoghen, was suspended for alleged misconduct.
