Nigerian singer David Adeleke is trending againThis time for a video he did, which was used for an advert for controversial Pastor Fatoyinbo’s church COZA.
The video which showed Davido having a conversation with, a lady and her daughter was clearly used to promote a forthcoming programme of the church. After the video was posted online it drew massive comments and criticisms from people, with many lambasting Davido for promoting a church, owned by a Pastor that had been in the news in the past, over an alleged rape case.
This prompted the singer to put out a disclaimer on tweeter.
“I’m writing to quickly disclaim the viral videos going around of me advertising COZA event to come up when I have to say I have NOTHING to do with the church!!! The fact that I did a quick video for a kid introduced as a fan just for her personal use and it was chopped up and used for an advert extremely disappoints me!!! I have never and most certainly not associated in any way with COZA church and have reached out to those responsible for this madness immediately!! I will most certainly be proceeding further if you do not react that video immediately!!! A word is enough!!!” he wrote.
Several reactions quickly followed his tweet, with many coming to his defence, while some doubted him.
‘Davido is not alone, COZA tricked Tiwa and Wizkid too. Someone needs to teach that church,’ a post read.
‘When Davido denied this coza shit half of Nigeria believed and half was still attacking him. Wizkid did not only denied it he insulted their mama join am the whole twitter street is shouting star boy. Obo just leave 9ja this people no love you,’ another post read.
‘I’m sorry but after watching that COZA ad with Davido, it’s indeed really difficult to believe he didn’t consent to it. Especially since he led the initial question.
‘At least, I can still cut Wizkid & Tiwa some slack after watching the video they allegedly featured in,’ someone posted.
‘I can see some tweets dragging davido even without any proper conclusion, some ppu even said they aren’t even surprise that he is razz, condemning him and blah blah. Davido has nothing to do with the COZA ad sha, and here is the proof,’ someone wrote.
‘When Davido tweeted his disclaimer of COZA posting without consent, you lots didn’t believe him and even insulted him… Now Tiwa and Wizkid have posted theirs, y’all are now ranting,’ more post poured in.
I see nothing wrong with the videos of Coza, they were only just using Celebrities to do Publicity and I think they’ve achieved it… too BAD we look for every Narative to throw a Jab at Coza and God’s Church, only God know those who are his … Have a Blessed day,’ someone tried to defend Coza.

The lady who made the video with Davido, later came out to clear the air, according to her, she had no prior intention to use the video as an ad.
‘I would like to make some clarifications on the video I recorded with @davidoofficial for my church, the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA). The video was in no way intended to be an official ad from the church. It was simply my way of raising awareness for a program I am passionate about.
I have read reports online claiming that Davido is coming to the program as an ambassador of COZA because of the video, these reports are false. He recorded that video with me and my daughter as a favour to a friend, nothing more. Also, my pastor, Pastor Biodun only reposted the video from my page because he has been reposting videos about the program. My video wasn’t the only one on his page.
The video was a product of my excitement about 12DG and there was no malice intended. I apologize for the confusion and misrepresentation, and once again I’d like to say I acted as an individual and not as an official representative of COZA. Thank you,’ she posted on her instagram page.
With her latest post, only time would tell if the dust raised by her video would settle.
