UCL: Neymar Faces Three-Match Ban For Lashing Out At Referees

Neymar faces a three-match suspension following his rant at referees after Paris Saint-Germain were stunned by Manchester United in Wednesday’s Champions League.

The injured Brazilian watched from the stands at Parc des Princes as United beat PSG 3-1 in the second leg. Despite losing the first leg 2-0 at Old Trafford, United went through to the quarter-finals on the away goals rule.

United were awarded a stoppage-time penalty via Video Assistance Referee (VAR) which was converted by Marcus Rashford.

Following the shock result, Neymar let his feelings out as he posted a screenshot of the VAR decision and slammed the intelligence of the officials.

He wrote: “This is a disgrace. They put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

“There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go f*** yourselves!”

And according to The Sun, UEFA must now decide whether to open a case against the former Barcelona superstar.

Article 11 of their Disciplinary Code includes “insults or any other conduct that violates the basic rules of conduct”.

UEFA’s next meeting is scheduled for March 28 when the incident can be discussed and a punishment – expected to be between one and three games – can be handed out.
