Kolade Johnson: Police Begins Trial Of Killer Officers

The Lagos State Police Command has started the orderly-room trial of officers accused of killing Kolade Johnson, a resident of the Onipetesi area of the state.

 

The command had on Tuesday revealed the officers to be Inpector Ogunyemi Olalekan and Sergeant Godwin Orji of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad.

The accused had on Sunday stormed Olu Aboderin Street, Onipetesi and shot dead the father of one, who was watching a Premier League match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports say the operatives had arrested one Ismail, which led to a protest. The deceased was hit by a stray bullet fired by one of the operatives, who was trying to disperse the crowd.

The Punch reports that Toluwani Lukman, the deceased’s aunt, said Zubairu Mu’azu, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, during a condolence visit to the family on Tuesday, disclosed the decision to subject the officers to orderly-room trial.

She said he had asked them to bring eyewitnesses along to the command to testify against the officers.
