Afrobeat has been creating buzz lately on the foreign scene, we’ve seen top Nigerian artistes take their trade to the global market with Wizkid, Davido, Burnaboy, Tiwa Savage headlining the movement.
This week, Disney premiered a new movie titled ‘The Lion King’ and followed it up with a soundtrack.
The Beyonce produced soundtrack featured African stars like Wizkid, Burnaboy, Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Tiwa Savage and many more.
The singer, who imparts her voice to the character Nala in the movie, has even called the soundtrack “A Love Letter To Africa” asides the Afrobeats stars , the album will feature Ghana’s Shatta Wale, South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly and Busiswa, along with Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, and Kendrick Lamar.
In an interview with ABCTV Beyonce says “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,”
The Lion King release will presents an immense opportunity for the Afrobeats genre all over the world.
