Fuji music legend, Alhaji Alabi Pasuma recently visited Hiphop World Magazine head office to give us an insight about the changes that has happened to his music career over the years as he grows old.
He explained that, age and somethings has changed over time and he can no longer perform at shows where thugs will disturb. According to him, “I can confirm to you that is has changed.”
Then we probed further explaining that, we are talking about shows at core rough areas like Mushin, Iyana Ipaja, Agege and other rugged areas.
He then said,
“You are getting it all wrong, that is why I stopped carnivals. of course you should expect a lot of boys, touts at carnivals, it’s always a show for everyone. No gate fee, they are not paying a dime, so they will be many and they are bound to fight.
But you won’t find those kind of people at Balmoral shows, where they sell Ankara as gate fee or Eko hotel shows where they sell tables and all.
Anywhere they are paying, limited people will attend. But everyone comes for a free show that’s why I stopped all these carnivals and stuff like that.
You can’t Call me and start saying you want me to perform at your carnival, I’ve said that repeatedly everyone knows. Even in my street where I’ve been performing for years, they invited me last year I told them point blank that I’m not doing again and they went to call another Fuji artiste. When you are getting old you stop somethings, it is only normal” He concluded.
