Budding star, Victor AD had an exclusive chat with Hiphop World Magazine where he led us into his world of music, lifestyle and growth in the industry since the release of his wave making single, Wetin We Gain. Read the conversation below.
Good Afternoon, nice having you here. Can we get to know you?
My name is Victor Adere, I’m a musician.
So far, how long have you been in the music industry?
I have been doing music for years now, I started composing my songs at the age of six (6),but I’ve been doing music professionally for four(4) years now, where I released my first song “your work”, until this year 2018 with “wetin we gain”
What is the inspiration behind the song “wetin we gain”?
Like I have always said, it’s more like a conversation between God and Man. I have to admit that I was at the edge of giving up. Music in particular, the growth is not actually the way I want it to be. So many things were just happening, so I just decided to go to the studio and just drop that. While I was dropping it, I never knew it was going to be this big. It wasn’t like a strategy for me to be big. It was just for me to drop a song and pore out my heart and then it turned out to be something else.
What should we be expecting from you after dropping “wetin we gain?”
After “wetin we gain”, na the things wey we don do, we con dey expect now. But I’m still working on something, I’m still composing a song presently. No specific date on when any song would be released but I’m working on it.
What is the relationship with your label at the moment?
We are cool, we are fine. Still recording I’m presently signed under Entins Records and we have many projects underway. They have been good to me. Thank God for them, it’s a dream come through.
What is your take about artist movement from upcoming artist to being a star in the music industry?
Basically it’s about being yourself, doing good music. At least the song may make you big and bring you out from that underground. It is just for you to keep up that tempo, never go for less. Its either you go higher or you just stay there. Staying there is not even the best, just keep going up and doing good music. That’s all.
Do you think stardom would change you in terms of piercings and tattoos?
No, it hasn’t been my thing from day one. If I’ve been through a lot and I’m still here, I don’t trust anything to change me, and if you see me change and I tell you it’s because of one thing or the other,
