English Teams Get Tricky Opponents In UCL Draw

UEFA Champions League holders, Liverpool, will begin the defense of their trophy against Napoli, Salzburg and Genk in Group E, after the draw for the new season was conducted in Monaco, France, on Thursday.

Chelsea, who are making a return to the competition are drawn in Group A alongside last season semi-finalist, Ajax, Valencia and Lille of France.

Tottenham Hotspur qualified for their first ever final in the competition during the last campaign, and will look to perhaps better the feat, having been paired in the same group alongside five time winners, Bayern Munich, Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade.

Premier League champions, Manchester City, got the easiest draws among the English teams, as they are expected to dominate the group which has Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and new comers, Atalanta.

Real Madrid, who have won the tournament 13 times, are again paired with Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, and both will battle for Group A’s supremacy against Club Brugge and Galatasaray.

Italian giants, Juventus, will again battle Atletico Madrid, whom they eliminated in the Round of 16 last season, as both were paired in Group D with Bayern Leverkusen and Lokomotiv Moscow.

La Liga champions, Barcelona, will seek to win the group, as they battle Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Slavia Prague in Group F.
