France World Cup winner, Antoine Griezmann, has announced that he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
Rumor had it that Griezmann was close to leaving Atletico and had held talks with Laliga champions, Barcelona.
Marca had reported earlier in Tuesday that the Frenchman has held a meeting with the club to announce that he is looking to leave.
And now, the former Real Sociedad forward has announced that he is leaving in an official statement on the club’s official website.
“It’s been incredible five years, thank you very much for everything, you will always be in my heart.”
Griezmann’s departure could open the door for Argentine, Paulo Dybala’s possible move to Atletico in the summer.
The 28-year-old joined Atletico in 2014 and went on to win the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.
