The entrepreneur and artiste Dbanj discloses that the new generation record labels are owned by "yahoo boys" who have no have no expertise in the music industry. He made this speculation during the "Changing the Game: Artistes As Leaders at the 2018 Social Media Week in Lagos as a panelist. Specifically stating :
"Nigerian artistes need a lot of capacity building. It is only in Nigeria that the owner of a record label doesn’t know anything about music.”
