Woman Sues Samuel Eto'o Over Child's Paternity

Former Cameroon international, Samuel Eto’o, is reportedly facing a paternity lawsuit over an alleged love child, report says.

Daily mail reports that the former Barcelona striker is being sued by one Adileusa do Rosario Neves, a former model, who wants him to be recognized as the father of her 19-year-old daughter, Erika.

Fernando Osuna, Adileusa’s lawyer confirmed on Tuesday that the hearing would take place at a court in Madrid on April 24.

The report said the Cape Verde-born plaintiff claimed she got pregnant after she met the four-time African footballer of the year winner in a night club in 1997, when he was playing at Leganes on loan from Real Madrid.

The 39-year-old further claimed that Eto’o, 37, who has six recognized children from four different women, told her he would “act responsibly” after knowing she was pregnant before cutting off all contacts with her.

She was said to have given birth in November 1999 in a hospital in Madrid.

According to the report, Osuna said he would ask Eto’o for a DNA sample when the court hears the case.

He said the court would decide after the hearing whether to agree to Erika’s request for a maintenance allowance as an interim measure while it continues to study the paternity claim.

He said: “Samuel Eto’o has been summoned to the hearing and it will be open to the press and public.

“It’s not yet clear if he will attend as he is abroad. He has been asked to attend by a legal representative he had when he was living in Majorca.

“The judge has allowed official communications to be sent to that person because it would have been impossible otherwise for the court to notify him.

“He has not so far agreed to a voluntary DNA test and I doubt at this stage that he will.

“At the moment our case is based on things like photographs and affidavits from witnesses but a refusal by Eto’o to agree to a voluntary DNA test would go in our favour.

“This process is a long one and it’s going to go on after April’s hearing, but the decision on a maintenance allowance is a key part of this process and the judge’s decision cannot be appealed.

“The paternity claim would continue after the hearing next month.”

Several photographs of the accuser and the player, who became the world’s highest paid player when he joined Russian club, Anzhi Makhachkala, are understood to have been submitted as part of the paternity lawsuit.

Also, several witnesses are also believed to have signed affidavits confirming the two were dating at the time.

Adileusa had attacked Eto’o in an interview with Spanish newspaper, ABC,   last year, after she announced she was taking legal action.

She said, “He told me I was like all the whores who go looking for footballers, that I was a bitch and if I didn’t have an abortion I was going to have problems.

“I thought he was in love with me and believed he would behave better than that,” she was quoted to have said.

She said Eto’o later insisted to take care of Erika after his former Madrid team-mate, Roberto Carlos intervened.

She further said the Cameroonian snubbed her after trying to reach him when her child fell ill three years later and lost a kidney.

Erika also said in same interview : “I’d love to have a relationship with him, especially so I could get to know my siblings, but I’m scared of being rejected.”

Apart from the two daughters he has with his wife, Georgette, Eto’o has a daughter with an Italian hairdresser, two children with a French woman and a son called Etienne by a Majorcan-based woman known as Maria Angeles Pineda.
