Veteran Singer, Baba Fryo Allegedly Assaulted By Soldiers

Veteran Nigerian musician, Friday Igwe, otherwise known has Baba Fryo has shared photos of his battered face saying he was assaulted by unknown soldiers in Lagos.

Baby Fryo who is known for his for releasing street songs like ‘Dem Go Dey Pose’ in the late 90s didn’t share details of the alleged assault, he simply said;

“I was humiliated by unknown soldiers I tried forced them to the barrack but a female soldier interfered and allowed them to escape. The case is under investigation. Thanks to Ojo Army barrack who took the case on their shoulder I pray they will surely be caught and brought to book.”

The singer, who has been off the music scene for a while had earlier said he never stopped doing music.

He said, “There was no time I left music, but the system has changed. At present, we don’t have raw talents in the music industry; people doing music now are the ‘Yahoo’ and drug boys. They took over the industry.

“A ‘Yahoo boy’ can just enter the studio because music is easy now unlike before when you would have to pass through many processes to release a song. Then you would sing from the beginning of that track till the end, but they cut corners nowadays which also explains why their songs don’t last more than six months.

“When they play some of my songs like Denge Pose and Notice Me, people still dance to them and remember the lyrics. Many things have changed.”
