Solskjaer Recalls Matic, Sanchez For Barcelona Clash

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has recalled Nemanja Matic and Alexis Sanchez into his squad for their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

United trail the La Liga leaders 1-0 from the first leg at Old Trafford last week.

Both players are said to have returned to fitness after recovering from injuries.

Matic had been out injured since United’s win over Watford in March, while Sanchez picked up a knee problem in the victory over Southampton also early in March . Initial diagnosis had said he might likely not play again this season.

He has, however, made a rapid recovery and could be on the bench against the Catalans.

Matteo Darmian is also fit again and could be in contention after sitting on the bench against West Ham over the weekend.

Solskjaer returns to the Stadium, where he scored the winning goal in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999.

“I don’t believe in fate but I do believe that you get what you deserve. Sometimes things are meant to be if you really go it,” he told ESPNFC.

“I’m not the type to think: ‘This makes me proud.’ I will feel the butterflies, I will be excited. I cannot wait to get going because it’s the biggest stage. It’s against the best club of the last 10 or 15 years.”
