Former Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra has sent a message to the club’s board, following the weekend defeat at West Ham in the Premier League.
The former Red Devils left-back has been linked with the director of football role at United; a role that has not previously existed at the club.
The Frenchman was listed for the job, alongside some of his former United teammate, when it became clear the Old Trafford side were considering appointing someone to oversee transfers; a practise that is common in Italy.
Taking to Instagram after the loss at the London Stadium on Sunday, Evra posted a picture of himself a few years ago in his Red Devils kit and wrote:
“I think it’s time to get our hands dirty! Manchester United board, are you ready to let us help you guys?”
The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side went behind just before the break, after Andriy Yarmolenko opened the scoring for the home team.
The Hammers continued to dominate in the second half, before Aaron Cresswell made it two with five minutes to go.
Reflecting on the defeat, Solskjaer said: “It’s always a difficult ground to go to and we hoped to do better than we did.
“We hoped for better. But the key moments they grasped and we didn’t. They had two fantastic finishes from two left feet, we just didn’t take the chances when we had them.”
