Super Eagles of Nigeria young winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has been nominated for the 2019 European Golden Boy award.
The 40-man shortlist was released on Tuesday.
Another Nigerian included in the list is Ayotomiwa Dele-Bashiri, former Manchester City player who now plays for Watford.
Other notable players in the running for the award are: Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund, former Juventus player, Moise Kean, Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson, Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid and Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi.
The Golden Boy award was established by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport in 2003.
The award is given by sports journalists to a young footballer playing in Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a calendar year(two halves to two separate seasons).
All nominees must be under the age of 21 and play in a European nation’s top tier.
The current holder is former Ajax skipper and Dutch defender, Matthijs de Ligt, who now plays for Juventus.
Past winners include Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Mario Balotelli, Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial among others.
