The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will not offer Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, a new contract before the expiration of his current deal, a report has said.
Rohr’s current contract is expected to expire in June 2020, and there are no indications that the NFF is willing to sit with the coach over a new deal.
Rohr signed a two-year deal with the NFF in August 2016, and qualified Nigeria to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations a year later.
However failure of the Super Eagles to win the 2019 AFCON in Egypt attracted criticisms, with many calling for his sack.
The country’s football body decided to stick with the former Gabon and Niger coach, who proceeded on a refresher course in Germany, bankrolled by the federation.
But Brila.net reports that the relationship between the NFF and Rohr has hit the rock over financial entitlements, including a frosty relationship with the federation’s president, Amaju Pinnick.
The publication said an insider in the glass house, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that told it is not likely that Rohr will remain Eagles coach after the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Nonetheless, the tactician will lead Nigeria out against Benin next Wednesday at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo, and Lesotho four days later in Maseru.
