Messi Slams Barcelona Fans For Booing Coutinho

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has slammed Barcelona fans for booing teammate, Philippe Coutinho, during the 3-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Brazilian was jeered by the crowd at Nou Camp while he was being substituted in the second half of the semi-final clash.

Countinho has failed to live up to the hype, following his £149 million move from the Anfield club last year.

The former Reds star has scored just 11 goals this season, but scored an important goal against Lyon and Manchester United in the competition.

However, his performances seem not enough to win over Barcelona supporters, who jeered the former Inter Milan midfielder when he was being replaced by Nelson Semedo.

Messi, who scored two goals in the encounter and his 600th for the Catalan side, condemned the act after the game.

“Its ugly that they whistle a team-mate like this. We are all in this together. We have to be united to the end because we are close to are objective now,” Messi said.

“We were so close to the fourth goal at the end. The 3-0 is a very good result but it’s not definite because we are going to a great stadium where the crowd will really get behind their team.”

Coutinho was also booed in last week’s 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga. He was afterwards advised by forward, Luiz Suarez, to live with the criticism players at the club are exposed to.

The player has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United and Chelsea.
