CHAN Qualifier: Togo Thrash Home-Based Eagles In First-Leg
The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), suffered a huge setback after they lost 4-1 away to Togo, in the first-leg final round qualifier on Sunday.
The Eagles opened scoring in the 11th minute through Sunusi Ibrahim before Togo equalised off Nane Richard just six minutes after the visitor’s opener.
Richard grabbed his second in the 65th minute to put Togo 2-1 ahead.
In the 73rd minute Togo were awarded a penalty which was converted by Tchake Marouf, bringing the score to 3-1.
And in the 89th minute, Agoro Ashraf got on the score sheet to makeit 4-1 to the hosts.
The return leg comes up on October 18, with the winner over the two legs qualifying for the 2020 CHAN on Cameroon.
