Former Real Madrid president, Roman Calderon says he expects Jose Mourinho to return as coach of the reigning UEFA Champions League holders next season.
Mourinho, who is out of work since his sacking by Manchester United in December, spent three years in the Spanish capital between 2010-13.
Santiago Solari was promoted from the club’s Castilla side after Julen Lopetegui’s sacking earlier this season.
But the Solari, who is a former Madrid player, continues to be viewed as little more than an interim appointment, despite being handed a considerable permanent deal.
And according to Calderon, he can already foresee a situation where Mourinho returns – despite falling out with club chiefs during his previous stint.
“I have a feeling, and maybe a little more, that Mourinho will be on the Real Madrid bench next season,” Calderon declared on social media.
Madrid were defeated 3-0 by Barcelona – to fall to a 4-1 aggregate loss – in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey, and are now left with the Champions League as their only potential silverware this season.
