AFCON: Salah Scores As Egypt Beat DR Congo To Book Knockout Spot

Egypt’s Mohamed Salah scored his first goal of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on homesoil in his team’s 2-0 victory over DR Congo on Wednesday.

 

The Liverpool forward grabbed the hosts’ second goal of the match after Ahmed Elmohamady had scored the first.

For DR Congo, it was their second defeat at the tournament following their 2-0 defeat to Uganda in their opening game.

Elmohamady opened scoring in the 25th minute, before Salah double their lead on 43 minutes.

Egypt have now won their first two games at the AFCON and sit top of Group A on six points.

In the group’s other game also played on Wednesday, Zimbabwe came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Uganda.
