The Super Eagles made it two wins out of two as they came from a goal down to beat Lesotho 4-2 in their second Group L game of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers in Maseru on Sunday.
A brace and two assists from Victor Osimhen and a goal each from Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, secured the win against Lesotho.
The home team took the lead in the 11th minute through Masoabi Nkoto who outjumped Semi Ajayi before heading in a cross from the left.
The Eagles levelled up in the 26th minute thanks to Iwobi whose low shot went past the Lesotho keeper following Victor Osimhen assist.
In the 36th minute the Eagles went 2-1 ahead through Chukwueze whose looped header from another Osimhen’s assist went over the home side keeper.
With 15 minutes remaining, Osimhen made it 3-1 as he finished off Ola Aina’s cross from the right flank.
And in the 85th minute, Osimhen grabbed his second goal, finishing off substitute Ramon Azeez pass to make it 4-1.
In the 90th minute, Lesotho pulled a goal back off an own goal by Chidozie Awaziem to end the game 4-2.
The win took the Eagles to six points after two rounds of games played in the qualifiers.
The Eagles next game in the qualifiers comes up against Sierra Leone in Nigeria on matchday three on 31 August, 2020.
In the group’s other game, Benin Republic bounced back from the defeat to the Eagles with a 1-0 home win against Sierra Leone.
