2019 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria’s Ighalo Finishes As Top Scorer

Super Eagles of Nigeria’s striker, Odion Ighalo, topped the goalscorers’ chart after Sunday’s final rounds of qualifying matches for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

 

Ighalo finished the qualifiers with seven goals and was closely followed by Fiston Abdul-Razak of Burundi, who scored six goals.

The Shanghai Shenhua star opened his account in the qualifiers by scoring one of the Super Eagles’ goals in their 3-0 away win against Seychelles on matchday two.

On matchday three, Ighalo netted a hat-trick as the Super Eagles thrashed visiting Libya 4-0.

In the reverse fixture against Libya which was on matchday four, the former Watford man continued his scoring form by bagging a brace in a 3-2 win.

After missing Super Eagles 1-1 draw away to South Africa on matchday five which secured qualification for the 2019 AFCON, Ighalo returned and scored a goal in the 3-1 final group game against Seychelles.
