Former Super Falcons Coach Thomas Dennerby has given reasons why he recruited ex-Nigerian women’s national team goalkeeper Precious Dede as one of his assistants in India’s U-17 women’s team.

Dennerby took up his current post after he was relieved of his position as Falcons coach this year.

And speaking on FIFA.com at the ongoing Tri-Nation U-17 Women’s Football Tournament -which has India, Sweden and Thailand participating – Dennerby described Dede as a very good goalkeeper coach who works very hard.

“Precious was with me in Nigeria for a while and of course, she’s experienced – having 99 caps for Nigeria.

“However, that was not the primary reason to bring her – it’s the fact she is a really good goalkeeping coach.

“She has a good plan and works hard. When you work with young players, it’s important you have a good personality and are a good role model. She is working very hard with the girls in training and we can already see improvement.”

Dennerby also spoke about his current fitness coach Per Karlsson, who worked with him during his time with the Falcons.

“Per was also with the Nigerian team. He was a hammer throw athlete, who could throw over 75 metres. He is very strong and he has been working with things such as endurance training for track and field athletes, football, hockey and so on.
