He said it was followed by the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry with 38, while the Faculty of Technology produced 27.

Olayinka stated that the students stood out from the 7,430 others churned out by the school at the 2019 event.

A breakdown of graduates for the 2017/2018 session, shows that 1,966 students had Second Class Upper (Division), 4,206, Second Class Lower (Division), 625 Third Class, 82 Pass and 310 unclassified.

Pointing out that the First Degree graduates from the other faculties, the Distance Learning Centre and the Affiliated Institutions would convoke on Wednesday, he further said:

“A further breakdown of the graduating list shows that 3.38 percent and 27.61 percent of our students finished with First Class and Second Class Upper (Division) Honours, respectively. A special recognition must be given to one of our students who finished with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average of 7.0. She is Ofure Mary Ebhomielen of the Department of Computer Science.”

Ebhomielen was given the opportunity to have a special handshake with the vice chancellor for her feat.

In her brief speech, she congratulated her fellow graduants, and noted that they were being celebrated because they had burnt the midnight candles.

She noted that their success did not come easy, noting that apart from making a good grade in the university, they still need to prove themselves in the outside world.

Ebhomielen called on those who did not make upper division to go out and prove their worth.

The Foundation Day of the school comes up on Sunday, where Ph.D students will be celebrated.
